CarrCARE Donates Otoscopes to HearMax Clinic, Nigeria
Some stories don’t need fanfare to matter. They begin with quiet care, shared purpose, and a belief that even one small act done with love can ripple far beyond what we see.
In June, CarrCARE donated a set of otoscopes to HearMax Clinic in Ibadan, Nigeria. On paper, it was a donation. But in practice, it was something deeper. It was trust placed in the hands of local clinicians. It was a gesture that said, “We see your work. We believe in your impact. We’re standing with you.”
At the heart of this effort was our CEO, Alana Carr whose deep commitment to equity and hands-on leadership made this donation possible. Her belief that no life should go unseen or unsupported is what fuels everything we do.
The donation was made possible through the leadership and heart of Boluwatife Oluwasegun, a speech therapist, audiologist, and board member of CarrCARE, who helped oversee and deliver the project on-site in Nigeria. Her involvement ensured that this project wasn't just done, but done with integrity, care, and cultural sensitivity.
At HearMax, the otoscopes were received by Precious Eigbe, a speech-language pathologist, and Bushroh Muhhamad-Raji, an audiologist two clinicians who work tirelessly, often without the resources they truly need. Now, with this simple yet vital tool, they can screen more patients, catch more preventable issues, and restore what every human deserves: the ability to hear, connect, and be heard.
A letter of appreciation came from the HearMax CEO. But the real reward? It’s in the relief of a mother who no longer has to travel hours to get her child checked. It’s in the reassurance of a therapist who finally has the right tools to do her job well. It's in the quiet dignity of being seen and supported.
