CarrCARE at the Bronzeville Smooth Jazz Festival: Music, Community & Health in Harmony

On August 2nd, 2024, CarrCARE Charity proudly joined the 4th Annual Bronzeville Smooth Jazz Festival at Bronzeville Field in Chicago, IL, bringing together live music, health advocacy, and meaningful community engagement. Hosted in partnership with Frank Goss and Bronzeville Helping Hand, the festival was more than just a music event; it was a space where rhythm met purpose.

With the smooth sounds of jazz in the background and the aroma of local food trucks in the air, CarrCARE’s health education pop-up booth created an inviting place for festivalgoers to learn, engage, and support life-saving causes.

Jazz, Culture, and a Mission to Save Lives

The Bronzeville Smooth Jazz Festival has become a Chicago summer favorite, and this year was no different. Thousands gathered to enjoy a rich lineup of performances:

  • Phil Seed brought his signature guitar grooves

  • Harlan Jefferson delivered smooth saxophone magic

  • Corey Wilkes lit up the stage with his trumpet set

  • A closing DJ set kept the energy alive through the evening

As the music flowed, so did the conversations around health, wellness, and giving back. CarrCARE’s booth offered resources, education, and action steps around organ donation, blood drives, and global health initiatives, all in the heart of Bronzeville, Chicago.

At the CarrCARE booth, visitors were invited to engage in meaningful health initiatives. They could register as organ and tissue donors, sign up for blood donation through Vitalant, purchase CarrCARE T-shirts and ALBA cookies to support charity work, and learn about upcoming health programs. New memberships were also offered, providing access to exclusive volunteer opportunities and events.

The booth sparked numerous personal conversations about health disparities and organ donation, highlighting the importance of CarrCARE’s mission.

Surrounding the booth were Chicago’s top food trucks, adding local flavor to the event. Proceeds from the booth helped fund CarrCARE’s ongoing programs, including:

  • Blood drives and organ donation education in Chicago

  • Property development in underserved areas

  • Women's health and mobile wellness services

  • Youth training, education, and global outreach
